About Kholo
Kholo is a 3D science app for children aged 6 to 14. Instead of reading how a thing works, a child opens the thing itself — rotating it, pulling it apart, looking inside it and switching it on.
What Kholo is
Kholo (from kholna, to open) is an interactive learning website made in India. It has four shelves: 15 things a child can take apart in 3D, from a family car and the human body to the solar system and a living cell; 10 projects to build on the table at home; 15 real programs to read, fix and run; and 20 English readings, each written five ways so a child reads at the level they are actually at. The science is mapped to the NCERT syllabus.
Kholo is a learning app. It does not sell laboratory equipment, scientific instruments or anatomy models, and it is not connected to any business of a similar name.
What a child can do
- Pull it apart. One slider separates a thing into its systems, each one labelled.
- Tap any part. Every part says what it is and what it does.
- Switch it on. Engines run, hearts beat, planets orbit, weather forms.
- Then explain it. Stories, a quiz and experiments turn looking into understanding.
- Build, fix and read. Make a real thing from what is in the house, find the one fault in a working program, and read about it in English at the rung they are on.
What it costs
The start of every shelf is free and needs only a free account — 4 whole things in 3D (family car, human body, mango tree, solar system), plus the first projects, the first programs and the first readings. The rest comes with Kholo Plus at ₹99 a month or ₹799 a year, one plan for the whole family, cancellable at any time from the account page.
Who it is for
Children aged 6 to 14, and the parents and teachers who sit with them. There are no adverts anywhere in Kholo, and nothing is sold to a child inside it.
